U8 Hurling
Thursday 19 September:
Cappamore vs Doon
We had a great turnout of young hurlers at U8 and U7 level for another
challenge match against Doon. Players are getting to know each other at
this stage having played Doon three times this year. Very competitive
matches and very little between both teams.
Saturday 21 September:
County Blitz
The U8s were on the road again for the end of year County Blitz which
took place early Saturday morning in Staker Wallace GAA. Cappamore
played against Newcastlewest, Monagea, Feohanagh/Castlemahon,
Knockaderry, Newcastlewest, Feenagh/Kilmeedy.
Good experience playing West Limerick teams having not met them previously.
Junior A football Championship
Saturday 21 September
Newcastlewest 3-11 vs 4-10 Cappamore
Cappamore played Newcastlewest in their last group game last Saturday
evening in Ballybrown. Newcastlewest opted to play with the strong wind
in the first half, and in difficult conditions the game was all square
at half time. Cappamore battled hard in the second half but were down
two points with a few minutes to go. We scored 1-1 in the last few
minutes to get over the line by two points. Final score 4-10 to 3-11. We
now top the group and go straight through to a County Quarter Final in
two weeks time.

U13 Hurling Championship
Cappamore 0-12
Killacolla Gaels 2-12
Round 3 saw us make the trip to Ballyagran to face the amalgamated side
Killacolla Gaels. Without 7 of our older lads through injury and illness
we had to call upon some of our younger panel members and they did not
disappoint. Cappamore went at the opposition from the get go. We took
the lead and held it right up until just before half time when
Killacolla got a goal against the run of play. The score of the game
came midway through that first half when Mal Keogh went short with the
puck out to Michael Berkery who moved it first time to Evan Coleman in
midfield and floated the ball to Jake Slattery who took off on a
trademark run and fired the ball over the bar from almost an impossible
angle. Both Andrew Caher and Chris Smith were denied goals in that first
half.
Cappamore came out in the second half full of energy and our defense
stood firm with Mal Keogh and Cathal Mulcahy defended the goal bravely
to keep Killacolla from raising another green flag. Jake Slattery was
causing all sorts of problems for Killacolla. Ben Ryan and Tommy Dillon
were working overtime in midfield and allowing us to set up scoring
chances. Points from Jake Slattery and Evan Coleman following some good
work by Shane O’Connor brought us to within one score of the opposition.
Killacolla replied with another goal and the last score of the game was
a long range free from Michael Berkery. We pushed hard for goals but it
wasn’t to be.This was a fine performance by a team short so many
players. The players who took to the field hurled with honesty and
courage. They could not have given anymore on the night.
Next up is Killmallock on Monday evening at 6.30.
