Leader notes.

Hon the parish. It gives me great pleasure to inform you that all is well in Cappamore this historic weekend. The ‘Fair of Cappamore’ got a airing or two over the weekend. Both sets of players, management teams and supporters did themselves proud. The lift they gave the older generations will be fondly remembered for many a year to come.

Camogie Final. County intermediate camogie champions.Cappamore1-16 Crecora 3-09. Well done to the Cappamore girls on their great win today and promotion to the senior ranks. Despite the heavy rain at the start the Cappamore tempo was high with all 15 players showing great commitment and desire to win. Team captain Muireann Creamer leading by example scoring 3 long range points with Roisin O Malley,Claire Keating,Molly Hammersley and Lisa Leonard also scoring. To be fair the Crecora girls were as committed as our girls and scored 2 goals to keep them in the game. The second half wind assisted we were slow to start and found ourselves down by 4 points. The girls grafted hard and with Lizzy O Dwyer and Elaine Berkery starting to score ,Cappamore got back into the game. After some hard work out the field the sliotar found its way to Muireann who finished to the net and from here on Cappamore were always going to win. To be fair Crecora kept trying and with the last puck of the game got a goal to leave the smallest of margins between the teams. Needless to say the Cappamore camp were delighted to hear the final whistle and the girls, like the hurlers achieved promotion to the senior ranks. .We join Ahane as the only other club in the county to have a senior Camogie and senior Hurling Team.Well done all. Great to see such large support, weary some may have being, however this historic weekend will long live in the memory. Senior promotion.Cappamore 2-10 Garryspillane 1-08 Another great day in Killmallock today for the Cappamore gaa club where our premier intermediate hurlers gained promotion to the senior ranks after a 13 year absence. Its being a long haul since 2003 but a journey well traveled. Despite being the underdogs going into todays game the cappamore camp were well prepared and confident of getting the all important result.Cappamore got off to a good start taking the game to Garryspillane with 5 different point scorers ,how ever got caught to a goal against play to trail 1-05 to 6 points at half time. The Cappamore players and management stuck by their game plan ,got their match ups right ,kept Garryspillane to 3 points in the second half . A Conor Sheehan goal early in the second set Cappamore on their way,and when Jack Campbell marched forward to score the insurance goal, one knew it was to be our day. The most impressive aspect of the team is the fact that everyone contributes ,battles for their teammates and have the will to win.
