Hurling and Camogie U8s

Cappamore GAA & Camogie in association with Centra Cappamore had an end of year training session Thursday 19 December.

John Kiely took time out of his busy schedule to visit Cappamore sports hall to help with the U8 hurling end of year training session and present them with a team photograph afterwards.

Ollie Coffey from the Limerick coaching staff came along with the Munster Senior and Minor hurling cups. Ollie also helped out with the training session.

Muireann Creamer and Claire Keating helped out at the U8 Camogie training session and presented the players with goodies afterwards.

All in all a great night with plenty of memories and plenty of autographs.

Credit Union County Senior Hurling Championship
Murroe Boher vs Cappamore
2 : 20 – 1 : 10
Referee : Jason Mullins
2018-08-31 / 6 30 PM / Caherconlish
Cappamore had a disappointing outing against Murroe-Boher last weekend. Missing a few key players through injury and just didn’t hit the ground running on the night. More important games ahead in the championship.

U10 Hurling Blitz
Cappamore vs Seán Treacys & Caherline.
2018-08-30 / 7 00 PM / Cappamore
Cappamore hosted an U10 hurling blitz versus Caherline and Seán Treacys. This was a very competitive event with little to separate the teams. We had a great turnout and some fine performances. Each team had three matches so the young lads were well deserving of the treats they received afterwards which were provided by the club. Thanks to all the parents who provided and catered for everyone.
Panel : Tadgh Blackwell, David Bourke, Jack Carr, Fionn Cunningham, Tommy Dillon, Cathal Fitzgibbon, Donnacha Gill, Harry Gleeson, Tommy Hartnett, Dylan McGahan, Ethan Moroney, Cathal Mulligan, Oisin Mulligan, Leo Keogh, Scott O’Connor, James O’Kelly, James Ryan, Paudie Ryan, Declan Ryan, Martin Ryan, Ross Ryan.

East Minor Football Championship
Oola vs Cappamore
3 : 09 – 1 : 07
Referee : Philip Dee
2018-08-28 / 7 00 PM / Oola
This game was played in Oola and we had a good panel of players on the night. We played some good football in the first half but failed to register same on the score board. While our defence held up well Oola managed to get a goal just before half time which put a gap in the scoreline. This resulted in a half time score line in favour of Oola of 1-4 to 2 points with our two scores coming from the boot of Kevin Doyle. We started the second half well but again failed to get the scores on the scoreboard. It was however a very tightly contested game; we managed to close the gap in the second half but could never close it by more than four points. The final scoreline was 3-9 to 1-7 in favour of Oola. Best for us on the night were Rhys O’ Malley, Donal O’ Mahony and James Lynch

Thanks to team manager Diarmuid Sheehy for match report.

East Minor Football Championship
Murroe Boher vs Cappamore
Referee : Michael Flannery
2018-08-24 / 7 00 PM / Boher

This game was played in Boher and due to injuries and holidays and involvement with underage county panels we were short a good number of the panel meaning that we had to start the game with only fourteen players. Despite being a man down we played some good football in the first half with scores coming from Darragh Hanley, Mikey Daly and Denis O’ Donoghue (x2). Our defence coped very well despite being under pressure at times but we went into the half time break leading by four points to two. However the game had to be called off at half time as the game could not go ahead in the second half as we did not have fifteen on the field at commencement of paly meaning that the points were awarded to Murroe Boher on the night. Best for us on the night were Rhys O’ Malley, Jack Sheehan and Denis O’ Donoghue
Team: Sean Lynch, Conor Fitzgibbon, Rhys O’ Malley, James Lynch, Jack Sheehan, Shane Kett, Darragh Hanley, Donal O’ Mahony, Mikey Daly, Eoin Smith, Denis O’ Donoghue, Eoin McCarthy, Mikey Moore
Thanks to team manager Diarmuid Sheehy for match report.

Munster Hurling Championship tickets

Tickets for the upcoming Munster Hurling Championship can be purchased from local Centra and super value stores and also from Tickets.ie.

Tickets are being priced at a pre purchase price of €20 for stand tickets and €15 for terrace tickets (Cusack Park will be €20 general admission), which is a €5 reduction on the quarter final price of last year. This price is available until midnight on the night before each game. The match day price will increase by €5, so stand tickets bought on match day will be €25 and terrace tickets will be €20. As already stated, we wish to encourage pre-match day sales, so supporters that buy early, save €5. Juvenile tickets (U-16) will be €5 no matter when they are purchased. Students and OAP’s will receive a concession of €5.

A different arrangement will be in place for the final and the competing counties will receive a much larger allocation.

It is planned that tickets for the 2018 Munster Senior Hurling Championship group games will go on sale to the general public on May 1st. Tickets for all games will go on sale together, so supporters will be able to purchase tickets for 1,2,3 or 4 games, if they so wish.

Senior Hurling Championship Round 2

28 April 2018
Cappamore 1-13
Monaleen 1-13
Venue: Kilmallock
In the 2nd round of the County Senior hurling championship Cappamore recorded a draw against Monaleen. Played in Kilmallock, Cappamore started well with points from Bill Creamer and Adam Coleman but Monaleen responded with 3 points to go a point up. Cappamore levelled with a point from Tommy O’ Donoghue and added another from a free. Monaleen drew level but a long range effort from Pa Doyle, 3 in a row from O’ Donoghue and another from Bill Creamer had Cappamore 5 up approaching half time. Monaleen replied with one but Tommy O’ Donoghue finished with a point to leave Cappamore 0-10 to 0-5 up at half time.
Cappamore started the 2nd half with a Bill Creamer point, he then flicked a high ball to the net to give Cappamore an 8 point lead. From then on Cappamore found the scores hard to come by. Monaleen scored 3 points and then added a goal to reduce the lead to 2 points. Tommy O’ Donoghue increased the lead back to 3 before 2 points from Monaleen narrowed the gap to a point. O’ Donoghue added another but 2 late points from Monaleen levelled the scores in injury time.
A draw for Cappamore was the least they deserved and were very unlucky not to win. There is now a break in the championship and is due to resume again in July.
TEAM: Sean McMahon, Jack Campbell, John Ryan (v), Jason Fitzgibbon, David Lonergan, Conor Sheehan, Peter O’ Brien, Con Berkery, Pa Doyle (0-1), Adam Coleman (0-1), Declan Deere, Tommy O’ Donoghue (0-8), Bill Creamer (1-3), Dan Shanahan, Eoin O’ Donoghue. Subs used: Andy Murphy, Joe Lonergan, Ben Leonard.
Thanks to Denis Leonard for match report.

U16 Hurling Division 2B Championship

Monday 23 April 2018
Garryspillane 1-09
Cappamore 0-11
Venue: Knocklong
From the start this was a close game point for point until Garryspillane scored a goal. We were down by 2 points at half time but in fairness to the lads they brought it back to level on a few occasions throughout the second half and could have won only for a few unlucky missed chances near the end.
Thanks to team manager Conor O’Malley for match report.
