U12 Hurling Challenge
Cappamore 3-6 Caherline 0-5
Venue : Cappamore
09-April-2019
On a fine evening in Cappamore we hosted Caherline in an under-12 hurling challenge game. As both squads had big numbers we decided to play 15-a-side and it was an entertaining game played in a fair and sporting manner.
Both teams started brightly and after what was an evenly contested first half we led by one point, 0-3 to 0-2, mainly thanks to the accuracy of Jake Slattery from placed balls and a fine score from play.
The second half started in the same vein as the first with both teams trading points, but soon after our boys began to get on top. Three second half goals, one each from Alex Heney, Ben Ryan and Chris Smith turned the game in our favour. A good team display on the night and a deserved victory in the end on a final scoreline of 3-06 to 0-05.
Thanks to Patsy Coffey for refereeing the game

U12 Football Championship
Cappamore 10-11 South Liberties 1-01
Venue : Cappamore
11-April-2019
On Thursday last in Cappamore we hosted South Liberties in the first round of our U-12 football championship.
As both team play in very similar colours, we were asked to play with our jersey’s turned inside out, but this did not deter our boys as they put in a very dominant display from start to finish.
The first few minutes were cagey enough as both team sized each other up.
This didn’t last long though as Andrew Caher reacted quickest to long ball played into the South Liberties goal mouth, when he grabbed the ball on the bounce and turned and hit the back of the net. Soon we were 2-0 when Cian O’Connor added his first goal, and then the other forwads also found their scoring boots.
From here on in we were totally dominant and never let South Liberties get any kind of foothold in the game at all.
In the second half South Liberties did mange a few attacks on our goal and their pressure was rewarded, when they were awarded a penalty, when one of their players went over in the box. Cillian O’Dwyer did manage to get a hand to the spot kick but could not prevent it from going over the line, South Liberties soon added a point, but that was the end of their scoring. On a night we had nine different scorers on the score sheet, but it was not just abut the scoring, we had excellent displays all over the field from number 1 to number 18, with all squad members
playing their part
There will be tougher games ahead but a on this occasion it was thoroughly deserved victory on a final scoreline of 10-11 to 1-01.
