U12 Hurling
Ballybrown 4-08 vs 3-0 Cappamore
In a game where we never really got going until it was too late, we were beaten by a better Ballybrown side. On a very warm day we started sluggishly and were slower to get on the ball than the opposition. Ballybrown dominated the first half when they were playing with the aid of a slight breeze. At half time we were losing on a scoreline of 4-5 to 0-0.
The team talk at half time seemed to wake our lads up and in the second half we competed more keenly for the ball.
Our hard work earned us a 21 yard free and even with Ballybrown lining the goal, Alex Heney still powered the shot to the back of the net. This was soon followed up with a penalty and again Alex dispatched it past the keeper. Ballybrown still managed to score on the break and they tapped over a few points, but we weren’t finished scoring as Cillian O’Dwyer added another goal to our tally, In the last play of the game we had another chance and flashed a superb shot just inches wide of the Ballybrown post. It was great to see Cathal Mulcahy back playing after breaking his finger when he was introduced at half time.
Final score 4-08 to 3-00

U12 Fooball V Ballybrown
Cappamore 3-01 vs 0-1 Ballybrown
Having had postponed this match previously with Ballybrown we had agreed to play both matches the same evening. So after being beaten in the hurling we had to dust ourselves off and pick it up again for the football match.
This was a very good game of football played in a sporting manner by both teams. Ballybrown managed to score first with a nice point. Cappamore responded by attacking down the middle and after a fine passage of play, Ben Ryan found himself one on one with the goalie who forced Ben’s shot wide.
This did not deter our boys though and we soon carved out another opening. This time Ben made no mistake and finished off a great move by hitting the back of the net.
At half time it was 1-0 to 0-1 in favour of Cappamore.
In the second half we began to get on top with our defense mopping up everything. James Ryan, Cian O’Connor and Alex Heney playing well and if anything got past them, Ballybrown could not beat Cillian O’Dwyer in goal who had a great game on the night. In midfield and up front we played some lovely football with great passing moves. Ben Ryan soloed through and added a second goal to his tally while Chris Smith finished off a fine opportunist goal. James Ryan kicked over a point to finish off the scoring and it finished on a scoreline of 3-01 to 0-01, an excellent team performance.
Squad for both games was as follows:
James Ryan, Cian O’Connor, Darragh Shaughnessy, Thomas Shanahan, Cillian O’Dwyer, Jacob Wright, Ben Ryan, Tommy Dillon, Dion Doyle, Alex Heney, Chris Smith, David Meehan, Shane O’Neill, Fionn Cunningham, Cathal Mulcahy, Andrew Caher.
